Kanpai to the Chuhai!

Kanpai to the Chuhai! This is one of the cleanest, most refreshing and lightest cocktails I’ve ever come across and it’s super easy to mix up. If you’re unfamiliar with Shochu, start here and you’ll be super pleased:

Chuhai
2oz Mizu Shochu
1oz Fresh lime juice
2oz Pineapple juice
Soda water

Mix all ingredients over ice, top with soda water and enjoy.

Big Horn Meats Pairing, Friday, July 22nd

We’re really excited about the tasting this week! We will be partnering up with the Big Horn Meats Food Truck, which specializes in local grass fed & finished beef and woodlot pork. Farmer Michael Wright ensures that his livestock get plenty of sunshine, fresh air, and green grass…and the end product is outrageously good! This Friday from 3 to 6pm, come get a plate of hand made Italian meatballs made from pastured beef and woodlot pork over zucchini noodles and basmati rice.
To pair, we will be pouring the 2015 Honoro Vera Rosé the 2105 Château Mourgues du Grés Costières de Nîmes, and the 2014 Di Majo Norante Sangiovese. We will pour on Thursday and Friday, but the main event will most definitely be Friday’s stellar food-wine pairing. See you there!

Honora Vera Rose – Spain – 2015 – $8.99

A beautiful blush color, it has simple yet multi-layered style with acidity to give it energy and lift. Ripe and tropical fruit, melon, and soft berries on the nose and palate. Quita an exceptional dry rose, especially at this value.

Chateau Mourgues du Gres – Costieres de Nimes – 2015 – $11.99

Pale gold in appearance with a youthful expression, a complex wine on the palate with floral notes and notes of citrus fruit as well as some white stone fruits, balanced acidity. Expect a long, mineral-laden finish. Best served chilled as an apertif or with grilled seafood or white meat.

Di Majo Norante – Sagiovese – Italy – 2014 – $13.99

A bright garnet in the glass. On the nose, scents of violets and woodland fruits. Smooth and refreshing on the palate with ripe, red fruits underlined by fresh, elegant tannins. A medium finish with pleasant spicy notes makes this a great wine for pairing with ossobuco, roast beef in a Madeira sauce or a chunk of fresh Taleggio cheese.

1 oz Thatcher’s Blood Orange Liqueur
.5 oz Simple Syrup

Shake ingredients, pour over ice, and garnish with a lime.
